Alcide Le Beau
1872 Lorient – 1943 Sanary-sur-Mer
1890 Umzug nach Paris. Autodidaktische Ausbildung, später als Kunstlehrer tätig. Ab 1902 Ausstellungen im Salon des Indépendants. 1905 in der Gruppe der Fauvisten um Henri Matisse im Salon d'Automne. 1909 auf der Ausstellung der Berliner Secession. Verwundung im Ersten Weltkrieg, Kur in Neuchâtel, Schweiz. Später in Sanary-sur-Mer ansässig. Bevorzugte Motive der Côte d'Azur, Korsikas, Siziliens und besonders der Brettagne. Wird auch der Schule von Pont-Aven zugerechnet.

Oil on canvas. Signed bottom left "A le Beau". Verso titled and signed "A le Beau" again. On the strecher frame stamped "Gustave SENNELIER Fabricant – 3. QUAI VOLTAIRE en face du pont S[ain]ts-Pères. Paris". Also on the strechter frame marked "Le Beau", another mark illegible. Label (1934–45) of art exhibition Kühl, Kleine Brüdergasse 21, Dresden, thereon titled and artist-named.
