Ernst August Leuteritz

1818 Meißen – 1893 ebenda

Porzellanmodelleur. Ab 1836 Bossiererlehrling in der Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen. 1838–43 Schüler von Ernst Rietschel an der Dresdner Kunstakademie, seit 1843 als Modelleur wieder in Meissen. 1849–86 Vorsteher der Gestaltungsabteilung, 1882 zum Professor ernannt. Leuteritz prägte maßgeblich den Historismus in der Meissener Porzellan-Manufaktur und schuf zahlreiche, bis heute produzierte Formen wie z. B. die Schlangenhenkelvase nach antikem Vorbild.

Service "2000" designed by Richard Latham and Raymond Loewy in 1954. Consisting of two coffee pots, churn, sugar bowl (lid missing), six cups and saucers and six dishes. Decorated with foliate design, gilted rims.

The handles in the shape of entwinded snakes with acanthus leaves. The body of the vase decorated with raised leaf and cable stitch design. The vase was originally designed by the Meissen designer Ernst August Leuteritz in 1861.
