Bartolomeo Coriolano

um 1599 Bologna – um 1676 Rom

Seine erste Ausbildung zum Holzschneider erhielt er bei seinem Vater. Zusätzlich besuchte er den Zeichenunterricht in der Schule von Guido Reni und reproduzierte dessen Zeichnungen und Gemälde. Später war Coriolano tätig in Bologna und Rom. 1630 führte er erstmalig den ihm vom Papst Urban VIII. verliehenen Titel "Cavaliere di Loreto".

chiaroscuro-woodcut from two plates after a painting by Guido Reni (Louvre Nr. 524). Bottom left monogrammed "G.R. in. B.C. EQ. F.", and dated bottom centre. In mat, mounted on four edges and framed under glass in a so called Berlin frame from the 19th century. Verso an old label of the art dealer "AMSLER & RUTHARDT", Berlin W6 Behrenstr. 39A.

Intense print. Cutted 5 mm on all margins. Vat paper slightly embrowned, waved and kinked. Edge bottom left crickled and with tiny tear.
