Karl-Heinz Adler
1927 Remtengrün – 2018 Dresden
1941–44 Lehre als Musterzeichner und Studium an der Kunst- und Fachschule für Textilindustrie in Plauen / Vogtland. Danach studierte er an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden, dort u.a. bei Wilhelm Rudolph. Ab 1955 Auseinandersetzung mit konstruktiv-funktionellen Gestaltungsproblemen, sowie Beschäftigung mit Keramik. 1957 erhält er u.a. von Picasso eine Einladung in das südfranzösische Keramikzentrum Vallauris. Seit 1966 arbeitet er als freischaffender Künstler in Dresden. 1992 Aufnahme in den Deutschen Künstlerbund. 1992 internationaler Durchbruch mit der umfangreichen Werkschau im Josef Albers Museum Quatrat, Bottrop, 1994 Villa Romana, Florenz, 1995 Villa Massimo, Rom. Seit 1996 umfangreiche Ausstellungen im Folkwang Museum Essen, Museum Modern Art Hünfeld, Linz, Mainz, Mailand und Warschau. Seit 1967 Serielle Lineaturen – Raumerweiterung durch optische Täuschung, seit 1995 Farbschichtungen und Zerstörung der Bildfläche – Erweiterung des Quadrates durch Neuformierung. 1988–95 Gastprofessur an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. 2008 Honorarprofessor der TU Dresden.

To the left rim with an tear to the upper horizontal pencil line (ca. 1,7 cm). To the olive coloured diamond interchange with pressure marks, probably immanent to the work. To the lower sides of the rectangular gap with a cut, immanent to the work, both cuts with a minimal tear.
