Porzellan der Transitionalzeit
um 1620 Jingdezhen – um 1683 ebenda
Als Porzellan der Transitionalzeit bezeichnet man Erzeugnisse aus der Provinz Jingdezhen in der Umbruchszeit zwischen spätem Ming und frühem Qing (ca. 1620–1683). Die 1818 beginnenden Bürgerkriege und die Qing-Machtübernahme im Jahr 1944 führten zum Zerfall des kaiserlichen Manufaktursystems. Private Werkstätten bedienten neue Märkte und schufen innovative Dekore, oft mit erzählerischen Szenen und neuen Farbpaletten von höchster Qualität. Erst ab 1683 setzte unter Kangxi wieder organisierte Hofproduktion ein.

Porcelain, glazed, decorated in underglaze blue. The ovoid body is decorated all around with a finely executed landscape scene featuring several scholars and servants as well as a horse in a river and mountain landscape, while the neck is decorated with hanging leaves. The lid depicts a scene of scholars with two servants and a goose. The shoulder of the body and the rim of the lid are decorated with a continuous carved wave band and rui cloud decoration.
Rim with a hairline crack (approx. 9 cm), inner rim with three chips (approx. 1.5 cm, 1 cm and 6 mm). A fire crack (approx. 4.5 cm) on the base, with old putty on the outside, and a hairline crack (approx. 1.5 cm and 3 cm) on both sides. Two further glaze cracks with old putty.
