Richard Müller

1874 Tschirnitz/Böhmen – 1954 Dresden-Loschwitz

Deutscher Maler, Grafiker und Professor. 1888–90 Schüler an der Malschule der Königlichen Porzellanmanufaktur Meissen. Im Alter von 16 Jahren 1890 Aufnahme des Studiums an der Kunstakademie in Dresden bei Leonhard Gey und Leon Pohle, während dieser Zeit gemeinsames Atelier mit Sascha Schneider. Ab 1895 Mitglied im Künstlerkreis „Goppelner Schule" und Begegnung mit Max Klinger, der ihn animierte, sich mit den Radiertechniken zu befassen. 1896 Rompreis für die Radierung "Adam und Eva", anschließend Studienaufenthalt in Italien. 1900–35 Lehrer für Zeichnung an der Kunstakademie in Dresden, 1903 Ernennung zum Professor, 1933–35 Rektor ebendort. Zu seinen Schülern zählen George Grosz, Hermann Kohlmann und Horst Naumann.
