1735 Nürnberg – 1805 Wien

Direktor der Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur 1784–1805. Unter seiner Ägide verzeichnete die Manufaktur einen wirtschaftlichen und künstlerischen Aufschwung. Seine Amtszeit wird als "Malerische Periode" bezeichnet. Der zu jener Zeit vorherrschende Klassizismus bedingte eine Abkehr von den zuvor üblichen, verspielten Accessoires des Rokoko zu schlichten Formen. Reliefgold und ab 1795 Kobaltblau bildeten den Hintergrund der häufig mythologischen Dekore.
