Julius Monien
1842 Königsberg – 1897 ebenda
Deutscher Landschaftsmaler. Studium der Malerei bei Ludwig Rosenfelder und August Behrendsen an der Kunstakademie Königsberg. Monien lebte und wirkte in seiner Heimatstadt und fertigte vorrangig Wald- und Seestücke, aber auch Porträts.

Oil on canvas. Signed to lower left "J. Monien". To the reverse on the stretchers frame with the inscription of the artists name, titeled as well as with a numered label. Framed in a gild coloured frame.
In the lower area of the painting with slight early decrease crackling, to the upper area with crackling due to age. Slight climate edge. Canvas a bit loose stretched on the stretchers frame. Paint slightly rubbed to the very edges due to framing, with losts of paint. To the upper area three spots with lost of varnish. Frame with restorations by a professionally hand.
