1918–25 Porzellanmaler, Besuch der Kunstgewerbeschule. 1931–38 Studium an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Dresden bei F. Dorsch und R. Müller, Meisterschüler von H. Hanner. 1938 Verleihung des Hugo-Göpfert Preises. Nach seiner Entlassung aus der Kriegsgefangenschaft 1945 freiberuflich tätig. Ausstellungen u.a.: 1954 Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, Gemäldegalerie Neue Meister, 1974 Galerie „Kunst der Zeit“, Dresden, 1987 im Heimatmuseum Sebnitz.
