1951–56 Studium an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden bei Erich Fraaß, Hans-Theo Richter und Max Schwimmer. 1956/57 Zeichenlehrer in Schwarzheide bei Senftenberg. 1975–89 Lehrauftrag an der Fachhochschule für Werbung und Gestaltung in Berlin-Schöneweide. 1989 als Dozent an die Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden berufen, 1992–97 Professor ebenda.
