Die Darstellung zeigt Beardsleys ursprünglichen Entwurf für die Illustration der finalen Szenerie für Oscar Wildes 1893 erschienene Interpretation des biblischen Salomé-Stoffes. Ohne den Text und in den Details leicht verändert fand sie schließlich Einzug in die Illustrationsfolge. In der vorliegenden Form wurde sie in der ersten Ausgabe der Kunstzeitschrift "The Studio" (1.1893, S. 19) publiziert.
