Oil on canvas. Unsigniert. Verso auf dem Keilrahmen von unbekannter Hand in Blei bezeichnet "Simon Vouet". In profilierter Holzleiste mit zentralem Metalletikett "Simon Vouet".
Randdoubliert, Keilrahmen erneuert. Malschicht gesamtflächig mit feinem Krakelee, im Gewand des Mars' stärker. Wenige kleine, unscheinbare Retuschen, vor allem in der Figur der Venus sowie am untere Rand.
Das diesem Gemälde zugrunde liegende Werk von Simon Vouet ist nur noch in einem Stich von Michel Dorigny

Ecke u.li. nach Malschichtverlust stabilisiert und retuschiert; Spuren des Ausbruchs noch sichtbar. Verso an mehreren kleinen Stellen gekittet und an zwei größeren hinterlegt, recto retuschiert. Im Falzbereich und an den Außenkanten mit Malträgerschäden.
