Gösta Adrian-Nilsson
1884 Lund – 1965 Stockholm
Schwedischer Maler, Autor und Dichter. 1904–05 Kunststudium an der Teknisk selskabs skole in Kopenhagen, anschließend Umzug nach Stockholm. 1907 erste Erfolge als Dichter und Maler im Stil des Art Nouveau. 1910–11 Studium an der Zahrtmann's Schule in Kopenhagen. 1913 Reise nach Berlin, wo er Herwarth Walden und die Galerie "Der Sturm" kennenlernte. Stilistisch näherte er sich daraufhin dem Expressionismus um den "Blauen Reiter" und dem italienischen Futurismus sowie dem Kubismus an. 1914 Rückkehr nach Lund. 1917 Ausstellung gemeinsam mit Paul Klee und Gabriele Münter in der Galerie "Der Sturm". 1920 Umzug nach Paris, wo er bis 1925 blieb und Fernand Léger und Alexander Archipenko begegnete. 1931 erneute Übersiedlung nach Schweden, wo er sich stärker dem Surrealismus zuwandte. 1953 Retrospektive in der Liljevalch Kunsthalle in Stockholm sowie zahlreiche Ehrungen und Preise. Seine Werke befinden sich im Nationalmuseum, dem Museum für Moderne Kunst in Stockholm sowie den Kunstmuseen in Göteborg und Malmö.

Watercolour and pencil on "Torchon" (watercolour paper), completely mounted on cardboard. Monogrammed "G.A.N" to the lower left. To the reverse with the label of "Der Sturm", there titeled and inscribed as well as with a deleted inventory stamp.
Very good condition with bright colours. Tiny holes of drawing pins to the edges. The "Torchon" detached from the mounting to the edges lower left and upper right. The the reverse the rims with remainings of an old mounting tape as well as some traces of colour.
