Sohn des Architekten Alfred de Dreux, mit diesem als Junge 1815 in Rom. Ab 1823 Schüler Théodore Géricaults, später Léon Coginets. In dieser Zeit Beginn des starken Interesses an Pferden. 1831 erster Beitrag für den Pariser Salon. 1840–1847 Zwei Serien von Pferde-Portraits für den Duc d'Orléans. 1848 Übersiedelung mit König Louis-Philippe nach England. 1852 Rückkehr nach Paris und Spezialisierung auf Pferdedarstellungen.

Watercolour. Signiert und bezeichnet u.li. "Ad Midy apres". Verso nochmals signiert "Ad. Midy". Hinter Glas in dunkelbrauner Profilleiste gerahmt.

Nach einer Vorlage von Alfred de Dreux.

Verso mit Resten einer ehemaligen Montierung, leicht gebräunt. Ra. leicht berieben, Gehrungen minimal geöffnet.
