Zunächst Ausbildung und Tätigkeit als Schildermaler. Studierte 1954–59 in Leipzig an der HGB bei W. Tübke und B. Heisig. Der diplomierte Grafiker war zunächst in Berlin freischaffend tätig und lebt seit 1994 im Wendland.
