Hermann Glöckner
1889 Cotta/ Dresden – 1987 Berlin (West)
1903 Gewerbeschule in Leipzig. 1904–07 Lehre als Musterzeichner, nebenbei Besuch der Kunstgewerbeschule im Abendstudium. Ab 1909 freiberufliche künstlerische Tätigkeit. 1915–18 Kriegseinsatz. 1921 Heirat mit Frieda Paetz. 1923 Aufnahme an die Dresdner Kunstakademie bei Otto Gußmann. Seit 1926 regelmäßige Ausstellungen. Durch Kriegsbeginn verstärkt Arbeiten am Bau. Nach 1945 Beschäftigung mit freier Abstraktion, Ausprobieren verschiedener Drucktechniken. Seit 1959 auch plastische Arbeiten. Ab 1979 Dauervisum für die BRD. 1986 Ehrenmitgliedschaft des "Deutschen Künstlerbundes".

Oil painting on wooden plate, varnish. Unsigned. On the backside another motif with three facial profiles, oil, varnish. Original suspension device on top and bottom.
With written confirmation of authenticity by Hermann Glöckner Archiv, Dresden.
Wooden plate slightly rounded. Two superficial drying cracks on the backside. Paint layer occasionally crazed, with very small losses an the left and upper edge.

Folding after a former work "Yellow cone of light 1", mixed media on canvas, 26.1.1936, (catalogue raisonné Dittrich G 125).
The reverse pen inscription partially slightly shining through in the yellow area. Small, violet stain of the working process in the cone on the top right. On the bottom left a tiny compression.

In 1976 a in colour varying silkscreen according to this motif was made (Catalogue raisonné Ziller p. 12).
Slightly creased. Bottom center and corners with slight compressions. Pin holes at all corners.

Tempera and folding on Japan Paper. Signed with plumbago "Glöckner" on the backside, bottom right. Dated "03 07 74" on the bottom left. Dated and monogrammed ("H") dedication by artist in the middle of the sheet.
In 1983 a silkscreen in two colors was made after this folding (Catalogue raisonné Ziller p. 36).
Slightly creased. Creases and smallest tears on the left and upper edge as well as creases on the right edge. Coloured water stains, maybe due to painting process, within the uncoloured area (approximately 2 cm), slightly reddish stain on the right edge.

Tempera über Bleistift auf einer Seite des Buches "Brasiliana" von Miécio Askanasy, München 1972. Unsigniert. Bestandteil der Vorzugsausgabe des Ausstellungskataloges "Hermann Glöckner zum 100. Geburtstag", Dresden 1989. Freigestellt im originalen Passepartout montiert. Darauf von fremder Hand in Blei nummeriert "47/100". Eines von 100 Exemplaren.
Verbräunter Bindemittelfleck am Blattrand u. Blattkante li. und o. etwas unregelmäßig. Technikbedingt wellig. Weiße Farbe mit Trocknungsrissen und kleinen Fehlstellen, vor allem o.li.

Gouache on yellowish vellum. Dated and monogrammed in plumbago "HG" on the bottom right. Tightly mounted in original, beige painted passepartout. On ist backside signed with pencil "Glöckner", inscribed "Dresden N54 / Pillnitzer Land St. 59/ Tel.: 37970" and titled. Numbered by artist (?) on the bottom right "5008 ? /1"
Corners with pin holes, due to that occasional rust marks. Passepartout with pressure marks on the upper edge and occassional small stains.

Title page signed with pencil "Glöckner". Signed as well by Bernd Sperberg (photographer), Ekkehard Götze (printer) and Rudolf Meyer (publisher). Numbered on the bottom right "II". Published by Edition eikon Graphikpresse, Verlag der Kunst Dresden. One of four artist's copies, total print run of 54 portfolios. Original folder with Japanese binding.

Print 4 and 16 completed by sample prints. Slightly visible fingerprints. Print 8 with small creases at the edges. Print 10 browned at the right edge. Wrapping paper with small tears. Folder wrinkled.

Monotype von einer Glasscherbe mit Tempera, auf kräftigem wolkigen Japan. Verso in Grafit signiert "Glöckner" u.li., u.re. ausführlich datiert "10 03 69/8", bezeichnet "Temp. 1/6" sowie von fremder Hand (?) mit Maßangaben versehen, mittig bezeichnet "X 2 mager" im Kreis.
