Around 1730, Parisian merchant Rodolphe Lemaire ordered numerous copies of Chinese and Japanese porcelain from Meissen. Since Saxon porcelain had become indistinguishable from East Asian porcelain, he came up with a business idea: he wanted to paint the crossed swords in overglaze enamel, then sand them down and sell the porcelain at a high profit in France as East Asian porcelain. With the support of the Saxon Minister of the Interior, Count von Hoym, who had himself lived in Paris for many years, Lemaire secured an exclusive contract with the Meissen manufactory. Between 1729 and 1731, the manufactory delivered thousands of porcelain pieces modelled on East Asian designs, particularly in the style of Japanese Kakiemon, which was particularly sought-after in France.When this practice became known, it caused a scandal. Some of the pieces remaining from this order eventually found their way into the royal inventory.

Chip am Mündungsrand (ca. 5 x 5 mm) sowie einem weiteren, ganz minimalen Chip (2 x 1 mm), Spiegel mit Brandlöchlein. Standring mit unscheinbarem Chip. Glasur mit vereinzelten Brandfleckchen. Schwärzung der Palaisnummer verloren.
