Cesare Dandini
1596 Florenz – 1657 ebenda
Italienischer Maler des Barock, hauptsächlich in seiner Heimatstadt Florenz tätig. Aus einer Malerfamilie stammend. Bruder des Malers Vincenzo Dandini. Sein Neffe Pietro und dessen Söhne, Ottaviano und Vincenzo waren ebenfalls als Maler tätig. Dem Biographen Baldinucci zufolge arbeitete Cesare zunächst unter Francesco Curradi, dann unter Cristofano Allori und schließlich unter Domenico Cresti, gen. il Passignano. Ab 1620 Mitglied der Accademia del Disegno. 1627 erhielt er seinen ersten Auftrag von den Medici, denen viele folgen sollten und durch die er Berühmtheit erlangte. Sein Stil weist eine für die Florentiner Malerei charakteristische Präzision und Sorgfalt in Zeichnung und Gestaltung auf. Zu Dandinis Schülern gehörten u.a. Giovanni Domenico Ferrucci, Stefano della Bella, Alessandro Rosi, der Landschaftsmaler Antonio Giusti und Jackpot Giorgio.

Cleopatra, the last Egyptian queen, died in 30 BC under mysterious circumstances. Ancient writings name a snake bite, a poisoned hair clip and an ointment as possible causes of death.
