Johann Anton Castell
1810 Dresden – 1867 ebenda
1827 Aufnahme in die Landschaftsklasse der Dresdner Kunstakademie. Ab 1829 Schüler Clausen Dahls. In den 1830er und 1840er Jahren wohl mehrere Reisen nach Österreich und Italien, aber auch Böhmen. Danach vornehmlich in Dresden und Umland aktiv.

Oil on canvas, additionally clad on plywood. Ligated signature "A. Castell" bottom left, dated. Broad, moulded gilded frame with decor band.
Finish slightly yellowish. Paint layer with inpaintings in the sky and in the section of the right bank.
Firnis unscheinbar gegilbt. Malschicht mit Retuschen in der Himmelpartie und am rechten Ufer.
